Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton was born on the 19th of January 1946 at Locust Ridge Tenn. She grew up with twelve other kids. The vivid imagination of her mother was a great way to get away from the harsh realities of everyday life. Songs were written by her before she was able to write and read. Her first guitar purchase came when she was 8 and started singing at the Knoxville Tenn radio station at the age of 11. That same year she made her first record on Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. Her name was made for herself locally while still in high school, however she wanted to perform on a larger stage. After graduating from high school in 1964, she immediately moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner's syndicated tv show needed a new singer at around the time. Parton joined RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She accepted her job in 1967. She quit Wagoner's act in 1974 after her own singles such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors & Jolene outsold the collaborations. Following their breakup, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it debuted at Number. The first time a song reached No.
